Kilbirnie Street Fire

The devastated premises of Sher Brothers' cash and carry warehouse following the Kilbirnie Street Fire of 1972. The deaths of seven firemen and the damage caused by the blaze led to questions being asked about the effective enforcement of fire regulations in the city.

Five of the dead firemen came from the B Division Headquarters in Kingston, which had lost five men in the Cheapside Street fire twelve years earlier.
