This image of Cartha ladies' hockey team of 1903-1904 shows that the club's facilities were not for men only. Hockey was a new game in the west of Scotland and initially the two sexes played together. This game also helped to keep the club running during the winter and generated income from new members’ fees that was used to pay for an extension to the women's section of the clubhouse.
