An advertisement from the Post Office Glasgow directory of 1926-27 for Archibald Stewart & Co's House of Stewart furniture store. "Furniture of taste and distinction" was designed for ships as well as for houses and hotels - the Clyde shipyards built many of the world's great passenger ships, and many businesses in and around the city provided high-quality furniture, fittings and fixtures for ships' cabins, dining rooms, bars and other public spaces.
