Advertisement from the Post Office Glasgow Directory of 1912-1913 for John Thomlinson Ltd, printers in Partick.

John Thomlinson is said to have begun in business in 1874, although this advert claims a foundation date of 1860. In 1890 he opened the Stanley Works in Norval Street. His firm adopted limited liabilty in 1909, by which time it printed advertisements, cartons, showcards and envelopes as well as the fine art catalogues advertised here.

Thomlinson was the brother of William, manufacturer of the famous Thomlinson "T" football, and his firm designed and printed much of the latter's advertising material.
