Advertisement from the Post Office Glasgow Directory of 1907-1908 for F F & Arthur Wilson, printers in Cadogan Street. Glasgow was a bustling commercial and industrial city with a vast export trade. There was a great demand for the services of firms to design and print catalogues advertising all kinds of machinery and other industrial products, as well as consumer goods such as clothes, household furnishings and cars.
This advertisement is one of the first to appear in the directory which borrows elements of its design from the famous "Glasgow Style" made famous by artists such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Talwin Morris and Jessie M King.
