An advertisement from the Post Office Glasgow directory of 1854-1855 for the Furbator, a newly-patented machine for the cleaning, polishing and sharpening of cutlery. This labour-saving device was invented and manufactured by the cutlers Hilliard & Chapman of Buchanan Street.
