The Faience Corridor, Glasgow City Chambers

The Faience (or Councillors') Corridor in Glasgow City Chambers, 1888. The corridor is 10 feet wide, 100 feet long and decorated in faience (an Italian form of glazed and decorated pottery). It links the various committee rooms of the second floor with the Council Hall and Council Hall Staircase, and has a series of domes along the ceiling. Glass lights are suspended from these domes to illuminate the corridor.
