The principal landing of the Council Hall Staircase in Glasgow City Chambers, 1888. The base of the oval glass dome which permits natural light to flood the staircase can be seen at the top of the photograph. Through the arches to the right is the Banqueting Hall Staircase, which gives access to the third floor and the council offices located there.
The first door on the left of the photograph leads to the Council Officer's Room. To the right of it is a door leading to the Council Hall.
