Lord Provost Robert Innes and Council Leader Pat Lally visiting a power station in Glasgow's twin city, Dalian in China. The photograph appeared in the December 1992 issue of Glasgow City Council's newspaper The Bulletin. The trip also included visits to Beijing and Hong Kong, where the Lord Provost opened new offices for Glasgow-based consulting engineers Babtie, Shaw & Morton.
The visit marked the fifth anniversary of Glasgow's twinning with Dalian and its object was to make business and political connections there. The Lord Provost stated that Glasgow companies were involved in projects in Dalian totalling £115 million, and there was great potential for the negotiation of more contracts, particularly in engineering.
A trade delegation organised in conjunction with Glasgow Chamber of Commerce visited Dalian in June 1993. A reciprocal visit took place in the autumn of that year.
