Also featured in the photograph, which appeared in the September 1991 issue of the Glasgow City Council newspaper The Bulletin, is the football used in the inaugural match at the present Hampden Park on 31 October 1903, when Queen's Park beat Celtic 1-0.
Born in Glasgow, midfielder Murdo MacLeod won numerous honours playing with Celtic between 1978 and 1987 and was capped for Scotland. His goal in the 4-2 win over Rangers in the league championship decider in 1979 is remembered with particular relish by Celtic fans. He became a manager and then returned to Celtic Park as coach for Celtic's championship winning side in season 1997-1998, before becoming a media pundit.
Aberdonian Denis Law was capped on fifty-five occasions for Scotland and shares the goal scoring record of thirty goals for the national team with Kenny Dalglish.
