The "Oxford" overcoat, illustrated in the Walwer styles overcoats catalogue for the winter of 1939-1940 issued by Wallace & Weir, 26 Argyle Street, manufacturers of men's and boy's clothing.

Prices for the "Oxford" overcoat, and for the "Argyle", "Chester" and "Harrow" coats, ranged from 44/6 (£2.22.5) for size 24 to 68/- (£3.40) for size 38. This was for the standard grade SX, which was described as "Collar sewn by hand, incorporating under collar baisted on and felled [ie; stitched down] by hand, outer collar seams drawn on top by hand. Lined good quality art silk."
