Men's clothing illustrated in a sale catalogue issued by Pettigrew & Stephens in January 1933.
The Raintex brand was Pettigrews' own. Textile manufacture was a major industry in Glasgow at the time, employing a largely female labour force. Wallace, Scott & Co of Cathcart employed 800 workers at their modern factory in Cathcart where facilities included a large dining hall and a concert hall. Dexter waterproofed coats were the main product. Other successful firms in the clothing industry included Wallace & Weir, Sunderland & Sons and Charles Rattray & Co.
