Ladies' pyjamas and nightdresses illustrated in a sale catalogue issued by Pettigrew & Stephens in January 1933.
Lingerie in the 1930s was greatly influenced by stars of the silver screen, and the woman in the street was offered the opportunity to look equally alluring in silk and lace underclothes and nightwear. Popular weekly film magazines regularly pictured movie stars relaxing at home in glamourous lingerie.
