Alexander Martin

The Martin ribless shotgun made by Alexander Martin, 20 Exchange Square, illustrated in the firm's 1930 trade catalogue. The catalogue claimed that the illustrations "are intended to demonstrate that the top and bottom rib in double-shot gun barrels are entirely unnecessary." The prices are listed as £50 and £55.

When the catalogue was issued, Alexander Martin had been established for over a century and had branches in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Stirling. The firm had a shooting school at "grounds convenient to Glasgow" where customers were fitted with a gun to match their build and natural action. Accessories such as gun cases, cartridges and clay pigeons were also supplied.
