A selection of salmon flies made by Alexander Martin, 20 Exchange Square, shown in the firm's 1930 trade catalogue. There were many excellent fishing rivers within easy reach of Glasgow by private and public transport, and there was a large demand for equipment from the growing army of city-dwelling anglers.
Alexander Martin had been established for over a century when this catalogue was published and had branches in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Stirling. In addition to fishing rods and tackle the firm supplied bait, nets and appropriate clothing for anglers.
