An example of what might nowadays be known as a workstation, this writing bureau was illustrated in the 1920-1921 trade catalogue produced by the Springfield Chair Co to advertise products made at the factory in Millerfield Road, Dalmarnock. This was one of only a few items of furniture made of oak, birch being the wood used in most of the firm's products.
