The Antonine Garden at Glasgow Garden Festival was a reconstruction of Roman remains by the Bearsden Horticultural Society, with sponsorship from Bearsden and Milngavie District Council. The sandstone walls and stone slab floor came from the Roman bath house at Bearsden.
Excavations along the route of the Antonine Wall in Bearden have revealed significant Roman remains, and a number of artefacts such as a carved distance marker and a Roman Standard were also on display at the Festival. A post-Roman Pictish landscape was also recreated.
Local authority sponsorship was a feature of the Garden Festival. Other authorities which helped set up individual areas at the Festival included Dumfries and Galloway and Scottish Borders regional councils; district councils at Banff & Buchan, Stirling, Falkirk, Inverclyde and Dundee; Lancashire County Council and Staffordshire County Council.
