Tait's Directory p71

The first Glasgow directory was published in 1783 by John Tait. This image is taken from a facsimile reprint published in 1871 by Robert Forrester. Page 71 includes surnames from Young to Zuill.

John Young was the second of that name in a series of five generations of yarn merchants. One of the original members of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, he was a partner in the firm Young, Auchincloss, Lang & Co. The family is commemorated in a stained glass window in Blackadder's Aisle in Glasgow Cathedral.
