The first Glasgow directory was published in 1783 by John Tait. This image is taken from a facsimile reprint published in 1871 by Robert Forrester. Page 41 includes surnames from Kennedy to Lightbody.
Leitch & Smith was a firm of West India merchants. One of the partners, John Leitch, acquired the estate of Kilmardinny in Dunbartonshire.
