The first Glasgow directory was published in 1783 by John Tait. This image is taken from a facsimile reprint published in 1871 by Robert Forrester.
Page 13 of the book is the first page of the alphabetical directory. It covers surnames from Allans to Archibald. Alphabetisation throughout the directory is by the initial letter of the surname only.
