Seamore Cinema

The Seamore Cinema was A E Pickard's "masterpiece", a large windowless building on the corner of Maryhill Road and North Woodside Road which opened in 1914 with a capacity of just under 2,000. Its slogan was "You'll see more at the Seamore!"

A refurbishment in 1926 introduced a revolving windmill lit up at night on the roof. In 1935 the Seamore was sold to A B King who modernised the building and brought in talkies. The Seamore introduced CinemaScope to the area in 1953 with a showing of The Robe. The cinema was sold to Rank in 1955, closed in 1963 and burned down in 1968.
