The Glasgow Theatre Club converted the Old Tron Kirk in Trongate to become the Tron Theatre. The conversion was accomplished with financial assistance from Glasgow City Council and the Tron opened in 1982.
Originally a club theatre, in 2003 the Tron is a public theatre which concentrates on staging contemporary plays and musical recitals with a pantomime at Christmas.
