In the years following the Second World War, a strong pantomime tradition was established at the Pavilion Theatre. Runs of up to sixteen weeks were not uncommon, and not only at Christmas.
Jack Anthony, Dave Willis, Rikki Fulton and Jack Milroy were among the pantomime favourites. The 1967 pantomime pictured here, Hi-Deedle-Doddle, starred Johnny Beattie, Joe McBride and Hector Nicol.
The Christmas panto at the Pavilion remains a popular event to this day.
