William Auld (1814-1885) was an accountant and stockbroker.
The son of an Ayrshire minister, Auld trained as an accountant and formed the partnership Auld & Guild. He was one of the founder members of the Glasgow Stock Exchange in 1844 and over the years served as treasurer and president of the Stock Exchange Committee. Highly respected in the city, he was one of Glasgow's leading stockbrokers when the new Stock Exchange Building was opened in Buchanan Street in 1877.
