Horatio Frederick Lloyd

Horatio Frederick Lloyd (b 1805) was a comic actor and theatre manager.

Born in London, Lloyd trained as a hatter before taking to the boards. In 1830 he came to Glasgow as the second comedian at the Theatre Royal in Dunlop Street and stayed for several seasons. He spend twelve or fourteen years in Edinburgh, making only occasional appearances in Glasgow before returning to star at the Adelphi and then (in 1849) at the Prince's Theatre. There followed a brief and unsuccessful return to the capital as manager of the Edinburgh Theatre in 1851, more resident comedian's spots at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow and then retirement. By 1876, however, Lloyd was back on stage at the Gaiety Theatre.
