James Bryson was the Superintendent of the Glasgow Fire Brigade, 1855-1884.
Bryson was born in Glasgow and served his apprenticeship as a joiner with Alexander Turner. When Turner became Superintendent of the Fire Brigade in 1849 Bryson became his assistant, and in 1855 he succeeded his former boss.
