George Buchanan (1827-1905) was Professor of Anatomy at the Andersonian University, a surgeon at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, 1860-1868 and 1870-1874, and Professor of Clinical Surgery at the Glasgow Western Infirmary 1874-1900.
Buchanan graduated MD from the University of St Andrews in 1849 and went to the Crimea to serve as a surgeon during the war there in 1856.
