William West Watson (1813-1882) was City Chamberlain, 1864-1882. As City Chamberlain, he was responsible for collection of statistics and publication of the annual Report upon the vital social and economic statistics of Glasgow. Prior to his appointment as City Chamberlain he held the post of City Accountant, where his duties included ensuring that the Town Council complied with its statutory undertakings.
