Governor John Stirling

John "Jock" Stirling was the Governor of the Northern Prison in Duke Street.

Stirling was a police lieutenant with the Central force and then an acting superintendent on the south side before becoming a prison governor. The Northern Prison had the ironic nickname "Stirling's Hotel."
