Robert Gillan (1799-1879) was minister of St John’s Parish Church, 1847-1861 and Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, 1873.
The son of a Hawick minister, Gillan was licensed to preach in 1829 and ministered in churches in Selkirk, Northumberland and Lanarkshire before translating to St John’s. He became minister of the parish church at Inchinnan in 1861.
Gillan’s son, George Green Gillan (b 1835), followed his father into the church and subsequently became minister at Inchinnan.
