Glasgow From the Air, 1891

Artist's impression of Glasgow from the air, c 1897, from the Albert Bridge (far right) to the Meadowbank Shipyard (left). The view is dominated by the Charles Tennant & Co's huge chimney ("Tennant's Stalk") at the St Rollox chemical works, in the distance, right; by the University of Glasgow tower on Gilmorehill, in the distance, centre left and by the vast Prince's and Queen's Docks on either side of the River Clyde, centre left.

The first Ibrox Park, built as the home of Glasgow Rangers in 1887, is depicted bottom left. The club built a new ground on an adjacent site in 1899. Other features of interest include Central and St Enoch Stations, right and "Greek" Thomson's famous terrace in Walmer Crescent (to the south of Prince's Dock, lower left), before shops were built in its gardens on Paisley Road West.
