William Spang

A copy painted in 1822 of an older portrait of William Spang (1545?-1610?).

Spang was named in the 1599 founding Charter of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons as the inspector responsible for approving "droggis" (drugs) offered for sale in the city. His portrait hangs in what is now the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
