A watercolour of the farm buildings at Kirkwell in Cathcart from the north-east, painted c 1830. Two men chat in the foreground. The ruins of Cathcart Castle are in the background, left.
This painting is one of a series made by an unknown artist for the Maxwell family. Each watercolour depicts a different part of Pollok Estate and, taken together, they provide a unique record of a west of Scotland estate in the early 19th century.
