Gill and Dhillon acquired the restaurant in 1984 and in 1989 founded the Harlequin Leisure Group to build on its success. The firm owns many of the leading Indian restaurants in the West of Scotland and has branched out into property development. Charan Gill was awarded the MBE in 1998 and became Britain's Asian Entrepreneur of the Year in 2004.
