Peter Brown worked as the courthouse keeper at the Justiciary Courts in the Saltmarket. This photograph was taken in a courtyard at the School of Art in Ingram Street, where Duncan worked as janitor.
Duncan Brown (1819-1897) was a talented amateur photographer whose work documented aspects of Glasgow life from the 1850s until the 1890s.
