David Keir

David Keir (1802-1864), glass stainer, photographed by Duncan Brown.

Keir was an associate of the firm J & W Keir which made stained glass windows. He is particularly remembered for his work in installing sixty painted windows at Glasgow Cathedral, commissioned by the Royal Establishment of Glasspainting at Munich. A memorial in Keir's honour was erected in the Cathedral in 1865.

Duncan Brown (1819-1897) was a talented amateur photographer who documented life in Glasgow from the 1850s to the 1890s.
