This circular earthwork consists of an outer ditch and an inner bank. Excavations have revealed that there was an inner stockade inside the bank. Fortifications of this type usually date to the Iron Age (approximately 700 BC to 500 AD), but no Iron Age material was found during the excavation. Medieval pottery was found in the ditch and Roman pottery in the bank.
Duncan Brown (1819-1897) was a talented amateur photographer whose work documented aspects of Glasgow life from the 1850s until the 1890s.
