An open air temperance meeting on Glasgow Green, c 1900.
The great open spaces of Glasgow Green made it popular as the venue for mass rallies, meetings and demonstrations. The people in the foreground here are attending a temperance rally, raising their hands as they take the pledge not to drink alcohol. Crowds are gathered around other speakers in the background, where a Scottish Saltire flag is clearly visible.
