Children paddling at Glasgow Green, c 1910. At the start of the 20th century Glasgow had some of the most overcrowded accommodation in the United Kingdom and children spent more time than today playing out of doors, in streets, backcourts and municipal parks. This pond was located near King's Drive, and was obviously a popular spot for local children.
