The Young family c 1900.
Elizabeth McAllister Young of Shettleston donated this portrait of her family to Glasgow Museums in 1985. It shows her with her father James Young, her mother and her brother. The portrait was taken by Macnabs, who had a studio in West Nile Street and branches in Uddingston and Bridgeton. The services of studio photographers were in great demand during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, for formal portraits such as this one.
