Tureen Street Excavation

An excavation at Tureen Street in Calton, carried out by young people working on the Youth Opportunities Programme just before the site was developed for new housing. Tureen Street lay between the Gallowgate and Millroad Drive, but no longer exists.

There were several potteries in Tureen Street during the 18th and 19th centuries and this photograph shows a possible flue rake from one of the pottery kilns.
