St Tudno

A model of the St Tudno paddle steamer. Built by the Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Co in Govan in 1889, she was named for a Welsh saint and served as a cross-channel paddle steamer on the Irish Sea.

Shipbuilders usually made a scale model of each ship that they built. They either kept the model themselves, or gave it to the company which had commissioned the vessel. This model is one of around 700 in the Museum of Transport collections and is built on a scale of 1:48.
