The first Super-Sentinel wagon in Glasgow, belonging to the Sighthill contractor Archibald Alexander.
The Super-Sentinel was designed by Arthur Thomson, a young Glaswegian draftsman. Thomson had started working with Alley & MacLellan at their Polmadie plant in 1915. In 1918 Stephen Alley sold his share in the firm and moved to England to concentrate on making steam wagons. Thomson went with him, and at the age of twenty-five found himself responsible for designing the new Super-Sentinel wagon. He was also put in charge of re-designing the layout of the factory in Shrewsbury which was to make the waggons.
The wagons went on sale in 1923. This Super-Sentinel was in use in Glasgow by 1924.
