Hugh Blackburn (1823-1909) was Professor of Mathematics at the University of Glasgow, 1849-1879.
Blackburn was a friend of Lord Kelvin and of his brother Sir William Thomson. With his wife Jemima (also 1823-1909), the famous illustrator, he purchased the Roshven estate in 1854. They settled there after Blackburn retired from the Glasgow chair.
