Colour cartoon from the Northern Looking Glass 3 September 1825 under the heading "Fashionable Intelligence". The cartoonist satirises the fashion for wide-brimmed ladies' hats, comparing them to large mushrooms. It is suggested that an added advantage of this style of hat is to disguise an intimate tete a tete between a fashionable lady and her beau.
