Rather Late

Coloured cartoon from the Glasgow Looking Glass 23 July 1825, the fourth in the "Shipping News" series. Under the title "Rather Late" it shows a crowd of passengers who have arrived at the steamboat quay at Greenock, too late to catch the paddle steamer that has just left for Liverpool. The sailor sitting on the quay, and another aboard a sailing ship, point to the vessel as it leaves the harbour. The uniformed servant on the far left is carrying a hat box and other luggage belonging to the large, distressed lady in the centre of the picture.
