A coloured cartoon from the Glasgow Looking Glass 25 June 1825. It is the first in a series entitled "Domestic Intelligence", punning on the common contemporary newspaper heading used for local news but depicting instead the trials and tribulations of "domestic" or family life.
The scene is one of of misery and confusion as a number of families attempt to move home in driving rain. Scottish tenants usually rented their homes under year-long agreements that expired each Whitsunday, and so there was a frenzy of removals at the end of May.
