This coloured cartoon appears on the front page of the first issue of the Glasgow Looking Glass, 11 June 1825. It depicts an Egyptian sarcophagus in the Hunterian Museum and a view of the mummy it contained, unbound to reveal the head and neck.
The University of Glasgow's Hunterian Museum opened in 1807 and is Scotland's oldest public museum.
