A Thomas Annan photograph of a portrait of William Davie (1791-1857). The painting was by John Graham-Gilbert.
Davie was Glasgow's Town Clerk. He was a keen supporter of the House of Refuge and Reformatory for Boys on Duke Street, and in 1851 the University of Glasgow awarded him the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws.
