Possilpark Public School

A photograph of pupils exercising in the central hall of Possilpark Public School in 1916.

Stuffed animals appear in photographs of many Glasgow schools at this time. This hall contains a fox, a flamingo and several smaller birds including a duck. The gentleman to the left of this scene is probably John Craig, the headmaster.

As in many photographs of Physical Education classes in 1916, at a time when classrooms and playgrounds were often segregated the boys and girls appear to exercise together in the school hall.
